Diseases or other problems?
Constantly problems with dying shrimp keep turning up and the question soon arises if they might have been ill.
This is actually understandable, as we humans normally do not simply die with no reason but very often due to diseases.
However, we do possess a very different - and far more complicated - biology, and there are thousands of different diseases that can befall us.
With shrimps things are a little different.
We think that 85% of all shrimp deaths happen due to faulty keeping conditions, 10% by copper, medicine or pesticide poisoning, 4% by parasites and only 1% by diseases.
Thus the topic of shrimp diseases is highly overestimated and has a much smaller importance than has often been represented on various Internet sites and in discussions.
