One of my Cardinal Shrimp was looking odd today so I took a photo and this is what her problem is...

From what I have seen of Cardinal Shrimp eggs they are dark and look nothing like this... Anyone care to comment? I have never seen anything like this on a shrimp.

Hi Bill,

looks strange, like something floral. My first guess was that bits of a plant got stuck on the carpax, could that be possible. Do you have any plants that look similar. It´s definetly no eggs. Does it move on it´s own? Sorry that I have no more ideas.
EDIT:
It could look a bit like this from what I can see on the picture.

but if that´s so I have no idea what to do.
Just saw that this site is in english aswell.

Hope it is of any help to you.

Hi Bill,

could be a fungus. Number six here: http://www.shrimp-diseases-online.com/diagnosistable.htm

Do you have alder cones at hand? Those have anti-fungal qualities. Or you go with the medication they propose in the table I linked you to. I don't have any own experience with that, though.

Cheers
Ulli

Yes Heike that looks to be it (first link), but I am having trouble finding a description of what it is at the site...

Cheers, Bill

Hi Bill,

it´s a sort of fungus as Ulli persumed aswell, thats why I put the second link in. There is the international version of the page where I found this picture if you choose the american flag for the language. And here a direct link to the persumed illness.

You're welcome.

What are you going to do re treatment?
Is it the same cardinal shrimp that had/has the strange bump?

Please keep us posted how this develops.

Cheers
Ulli
