Hello,

I have one tank with some Sulawesi shrimps at the following water parameters.

PH: 8,2
Temp: 27°C
KH: 6
GH: 12

The gestation time seems to be by 2 weeks.
Can anybody confirm this ?

Hi George,

is that snail Tylomelania?

I have reserved a tank for those shrimps, the Sulawesis are so special!

Cheers

Hey George,

looks awesome!

I have no clue which parameters are perfect for these tiny creatures, but can you tell me where I can buy them?

My 85l tank is pretty empty -.-

Greets,

Hi Nikolas,

I think the knack is the high pH - 8.2 is pretty alkaline... And the temperature, of course.

Cheers,
Ulli

Hello friends,

Yes, the snail is Tylomelania. I have already few young Tylomelania. They are viviparous and c.a. 0,5 cm big.
I could see for some shrimps if you want. Wink

I dont think that a ph near 8,2 ist absolutely indispensable to life. A few kardinal shrimps lives in another tank by ph 7,8. They thrive and prosper.

Hi George,

that's interesting. How low can you go with the pH, what do you think? 7.5, 7?

Do the Tylomelania actually reproduce in your tank, or did you already get pregnant ones?

At the moment there are Betta imbellis in the tank I intend to use for the Cardinals - their quarantine is not quite over yet, and they're breeding so nicely in there...

When they're ready to go to the big tank I'll have to redo the aquarium completely - it's a Tetra AquaArt 30, and, as you know, the filter is less than suitable.

Cheers
Ulli

Hi George,

I've just been watching mine and they appear to be using their antennae as some sort of signaling device. They seem to be almost waving at each other from different parts of the tank. When one comes out from hiding it appears to wave at any individual it sees. This then waves back in turn.

Have you noticed this with yours?

Hi George,

How large were your adults when they started breeding?

Mine are now about 10mm. Do you think this is large enough to start breeding ?

Cheers

Hello James,

yes, I think that they should start with 1cm.
