Hi George,
wow, these pics are great!
I'm virtually green with envy, your black tigers are awesome.
Thanks for showing them!
Maybe you could tell us a little more? How many totally black ones do you get?
Cheers

Hi Ulli,
You must not be envious.
They are soon available in larger quantities and at reasonable prices, if my breeding concept works well.
I breed the bts in 11 tanks now. How many shrimps these are is difficult to estimate. 7 tanks are taken by small shrimps that still need a view weeks to reproduce. |

Hi George,
sounds great!
So you have a stable strain?
Many have said that the Black Tigers are very susceptible to high bacteria load or environmental changes, aren't yours?
Cheers

Hi Ulli,
my Black Tiger lives in GH12, KH 5-6 and PH 7,9-8,1. Sure, no shrimp like to live under enviromental changes and liquid manure. They are as sensitive as other species. Look at my new pictures.

Interesting pH George, I thought all tiger shrimps needed an acid pH like bee shrimps.
Is this correct?
Which species are they? |

Hi there,
In general, they belong to the Caridina serrataspecies. |

Strange....... I always though that serrata needed a pH below 7 ? |

| It as a big superstition to assert, that shrimps dont prosper by ph above 7. Did you thought about other influencing factors that shouldnīt to be sneezed at??? |

I guess ammonia could be an issue with higher pH levels.
George are there any other shrimps you are keeping at pH 7.9- 8.1?
Can you please list them.
Cheers

Hi James,
yes ammonia is one of no go criteria but letīs face it. Do we really feed in these quantities that ammonia can appear? Rather not.
Sulavesi shrimps need ph near 8,3. Do they die?
I think there are other issues to be discussed.
All my shrimps live in Ph 7,9-8,1
Red Bee
CRS
Blue Tiger Shrimp
Black Tiger Shrimp
Yellow Shrimp
Red Fire
Blue Perl

Hi George,
I also think your water parameters are quite interesting and different from what we are used to hearing.
Could you be a little more specific about the other important factors?
Cheers

Hi Ulli,
yes I can. In my point of view, bacterial contamination, some tap water ingredients like treces of medicaments and an constantly high level of nitrate are more important factors. Not to be forgotten is the factor oxygen. Low concentration at night caused by aerobic degradation is leading to skinnig problems and death. |
