Hi!!
I have some information about shrimp called Purple Zebra Shrimp, this info's are from one seller, and this is it:
The Purple Zebra Shrimp is a very rare shrimp and there are not much information about this shrimp available. The unique feature of this shrimp, is a missing rostrum. With a missing rostrum, the eyes are close to each other, maybe joined. The head portion has a unique green crown, a transparent body and multiple purple stripes. After molting, the stripes becomes red, then orange before returning to purple again They are very shy and like to hide most of the time.
In nature, pregnant females swims to brackish water to lay their eggs. The young shrimplets require salt water to survive before returning to freshwater as adult.(the detail human breeding is not yet features in any article right now)
Best regards

I just recieved some Purple Zebra shrimp today. I am also fustrated with the lack of information available.
The breeder who I bought these intresting shrimp from has raised them herself. The need for brackish water is not accurate.
They seem to prefer harder water.
Thats all I know for now. I am keeping them in moderate hard water with PH 7.6 and about 26C.
If anyone knows more please share with us.
Mine are still acclimating at the moment. |

Hi,
Not much to report so far. Very shy shrimp but I put them in a 175l (46g) tank and have not seen them since. I havent seen any bodies so all is well I hope. It is too big a tank but it was the only place I could fit them in.
Very intresting looking shrimps from what I have seen so far.
I very much hope to have them breed.
I will try to get some pics by catching one and putting it in a floating breeder box.
All I know from the breeder is that they do well in medium-hard water and warmer tempatures like white pearl (snowball) or red cherry shrimp. They are alot more sensitive however. |

Hello,
I've had these shrimps, too. But they all died. I've send the dead shrimps to Werner Klotz, so we should know more, in a few time. |

Mine also died. 80 of them.
I am very sad about it.
I think that slightly acidic water is needed for success like the Crystal Reds.
The tank I tried them in was medium hardness alkaline. O% survival. |

Hello,
I've send some of these shrimps to Werner Klotz. He said these animals arn't shrimps. They are cray's - in german they belong to the family called "Knallkrebse".
The most of these species need brackish water or really saltwater. |
