Hey folks,
just recently I stubmled across a plant called "riccia rhenana". It is familiar to the "riccia fluitans" but supposedly stays down the ground on its own and doesn't need to be all tight up like the riccia fluitans which is known to seek to the water surface at anytime. I assume that rhenana might be the plant used by amanos aquascaping, eventhough the fluitan is thoroughly named whenever nature aquascaping is shown.
Does anybody know more to that plant or even keeps it in his own tank? And if so, what parameters are given/required to keep the plant healthy?
I have a kind of Riccia, which stay sumerged all the time, itīs really more thihi than regular Riccia fluitans. I allways ussumed when you keep all the time Riccia fluitans ties to a wood or rock, it becomes in a submerged type more dark and no-floating form.
You can see it growing between moss and Marsilea without any attachment.
A close-up
I use to mix it with moss to tie to rocks and woods and some time some stem get back to regular bright green form... as within Cherry tanks.

Hi Xema,
well thank you for the information and those stunning pictures! In the meanwhile I was lucky to get some riccia rhenana by my self. It seems to be the same plant as shown on your photographs. I noticed, that it is much darker in colour than fluitans and still: if it gets too much illumination, pieces of rhenana seem to change into fluitans - they turn much brighter in colour and will seek to the surface again.
