Still there are many inconsistencies between the determination of the Caridina sp. "New Bee" in different countries all over the world...
My very first bumblebees I found at a retailer here in Berlin Germany. Since they were sold to me as the Caridina sp. "Bumblebee" I never thought it could have been any other species. But while trying to increase my stock on this shrimp, I noticed that all the bumblebees I received didn't look the same as the ones I've kept at home. So therefore I took a closer look and noticed the difference:

The Caridina sp."Bumblebee"
- shows 4 brown stripes and the first stripe right beneath the eyes is brown.

The Caridina sp. "New Bee" though has
- its first stripe beneath the eyes white coloured and
- shows only three brown stripes

Both the New Bee and the bumblebee do not show any orange in the head or the tail, their exuvia is transparent - not orange.

While searching the world wide web on infos, I found out that in asian countries such as Japan and China, northern Europe that is Denmark, Sweden and Norway as well as some people in France and the Netherlands distinguish between those two pretty similiar looking Caridina and so they differentiate between the bumblebee and the New Bee. But still, it seems as if that hasn't reached all people keeping these beautiful species and so some of us are still confused on how to determine wether a shrimp is called a "New Bee" or not.

What makes the difference? The colour pattern mentioned above? Are there any other issues?

Well, except for what I have already mentioned, the "New Bee" is a variation of the bumblebee - unfortunately its name though is pretty delusive; people therefore might relate to the "Bee" - but it is not! For sure it would have been beter off named the "New bumblebee" Rolling Eyes
