Hi all,

I have just bought a few shrimps and I would like to know wether they are "Bumble bee" or "New bee" shrimps because here in all fish shops every shrimps with stripes is called a bee shrimp Very Happy . But I am sure it is not a Caridina sp. Bee. Some shrimps have dark brown stripes and on others the brown stripes are rather reddish.

Here is a pic of my new shrimps:

Hello,

I think it's a bumble bee or a normally bee. Do you have a picture from the upperside of the shrimp?
It is not a new bee.

weired...
it looks alike to both, the bumblebee as well as the New Bee - note the brown bar behind the carapax - it is V-shaped and therefore not a bumblebee - which has that bar M-shaped. But still the New Bee's head is white, not brown... Question

There you go - seems as if that shrimp has a white forehead (right beneath the eyes) - so you have the "New Bee" there Cool

The New Bee!!! Razz How beautiful! Have you already noticed the difference between them and the black&white bee you've showed us in the other thread? Maybe you can do some observations on it to see if there is more to be named in comparison to similiar looking "bees" - so people get used to distinguish between the species. Unfortunately the majority of bumblebee keepers hasn't yet noticed the difference. Are you capable of doing some microscoping? I'm still curious if things being said about the differences are all right...

By the way; do you like their appearance at least a little like I do? Rolling Eyes I just love them; they are so gorgeous!
