Hi all,

I am keeping white pearl shrimps and red cherry shrimps. I 've read here that crossbreeding is possible between these 2 species.

A friend of mine told me he didn't notice any crossbreeding in his tank. Has anyone any experience of keeping them in the same tank?

Regards,
Huy.

Hello,

the crossbreeding between those spezies is only expected. Some people told us that they have hybrids in their tank. I have no pearls so I can't examine that, but I have sawn pictures from these hybrids and so I wouldn't do this.

Hi there,
just recently I received some White Pearls which showed red markings - they looked just like young Red Cherry shrimps. The eggs were bright white though but doing some research on the stock and asking the breeder back to who primary bred them I found out that they once were kept together with Cherrys. So crossbreeding is possible between those two species...

If you could post a pic, it would be great. I am curious to see what an hybrid looks like.

Well, I am probably already known for taking bad pictures, but I'll give it a try - see below. If you want to get a better idea of what they look like in real, visit the following link and scroll down the side till you get to the last picture - there it shows a Red Cherry baby on its mom - the baby looks just like the hybrids I purchased.

He owner of the shrimp told me it died so young (only 1,5cm long).

Hello Xema,

The possibilty of the crossbreeding from the snow white & the red fire is already known in Germany. Last year we have exaimined this and the result is printed in our Online-Magazin ( poorly only in german ).
In the second magazin of www.garnele-online.de . There you can find pictures of the hybrids too.
