Wondering if anyone knew what this is on male cherry pleopods, I guess it has something to do with reproduction, just curious.

You're right, these are the male parts, located on the first pair of swimming feet. The scientific name is appendix masculina.
Great shots! May I ask you what camera you're using?

Thanks so much Ulli, so it holds the sperm for transfer to the female, do you know if the sperm are put there when mating and not kept there otherwise.
The camera is canon D400 with a 60mm lens and using off camera flash gives better detail. I also have extension tubes that allow the camera to focus closer to the subject dont think I used the tubes on this shot. |

Hi Sorab,
the function of the appendix masculina is, according to Werner Klotz and Andreas Karge, still very much in the dark.
It may eiter serve to deliver the sperm like the endopods of the first pair of swimming feet or be a glad of some sort.
They're still researching in this field, many things are yet to be discovered with shrimp.
Great camera! I've heard a lot of good things about that model.
