I haven't tried it yet myself but I have heard that cucumber is a good food, they only eat the tender inside parts and leave the peel.

Yes, they do.
One should be a little careful when feeding cucumber, some tend to spoil the water, so taking it out after one or two hours is a must.
If the cucumbers have been treated with pesticides please make sure you peel them before feeding.

Cheers

Hi,

I´d rather try zucchini/courgette than cucumber as it doesn´t fall appart or gets slimy that quick. Smile

My shrimp also like (rather, love) dried thin slices of Hokkaido pumpkin - another member of the Cucurbitaceae family.

They don't spoil the water, I can leave them in the tank for an entire day (although they hardly ever last that long).

Cheers
Ulli

Hi,

it also comes under the name of kuri pumpkin, or hokkaido squash, or even red-skin kabocha.

Very high in carotene and thus beneficial to the coloring.

Cheers

I personally have found that as long as you take the goo inside out of cucumber then they will last 2-3 days without any water spoilige. This is in my 10 gallon RCS only tank though.
