I saw an old friend the other day, 3 years ago I gave them a baby crayfish before they moved. All mine are huge now. But when I saw it, it was exactly the same size it was 3 years ago! About 3cm.
It lives in a small fish bowl. Could be the reason? |

Hello,
yes that's right. If the tank is very small the cray's doesn't growing in a normally way in some cases.
But this isn't really good. |

| Would it shorten its life? It's about 3 years old now. I think redclaws live around 5? They said they pick him up and change the water every few days. No pump, no filter etc. It's unbelievably tame. |

Hi,
no wonder the cray stayed small. The Invert Working Group of Germany (AG Wirbellose) recommends a tank of no less than 200 liters (52G) for one single Cherax quadricarinatus...
I'm pretty sure that this will shorten the cray's life - this is pure stress for the poor thing.
Cheers
