Hi all,
I just wanted to show you my new Black Tiger tank. It's a Tetra AquaArt 30 holding 30 litres (hence the name).
The substrate is crushed clear glass.
I've added some white stones (probably white granite), a few zeolith stones that absorb nitrate (behind the root, however, I don't like their color) and a mangrove root.
As a background I use simple black construction paper (on the outside, of course).
I've kicked out the original interior filter as it
a) is oversized for the tank in my opinion, it made a lot of commotion in there and promoted algae growth,
b) is not shrimp-safe (can be made so with a nylon sock, but this clogs up pretty soon and has to be cleaned all the time) and
c) hums pretty loudly.
Now the tank is filtered by an air-driven sponge filter which can be finely adjusted on the Schego air pump.
Besides the Hydrocotyle, there's some moss (Plagimonium affine) on the root, however, the picture is so bad (stupid camera) that it is hardly visible.
The other plants are Nymphoides sp. "Taiwan", Cryptocoryne parva (right side of tank), Echinodorus tenellus (to the left), Alternanthera reineckii "Rosaefolia" (waay at the back, hardy visible, this will need a lot of time to come back from the shock of transplanting) and Vallisneria spiralis "Tiger" (right side of tank, right next to the root).
I know that those plants will need some time to grow a lot more, but the tank was only set up yesterday and needs some time to mature anyway. Wait and see...
Cheers

Hi
and thank you for your compliments!
In reality it looks even nicer - I still have to learn _a lot_ in the field of aquarium photography...
The black tigers are with the heteropodas at the moment, molt and grow and seem pretty happy.
I was thinking of getting maybe one yellow applesnail for this tank, what do you think?
Cheers

And today it looks like that.
I've added Elodea, one stem of Hygrophila and flame moss (supposedly).
The applesnail's name is Betty
Cheers
