Hi Heike,

thanks a lot. I will take the corys for some of my tanks and the otos for others Wink

I just made a breeding tank for my m. galaxys (or whatever they're called now). Hope they will present me with a surprisingly amount of eggs.

Best regards, Noa

Hi Noa,
it´s a Parotocinclus sp. but I still couldn´t find out the right specification as the patern of the tailfin doesen´t correspond with any of the described species. It looks a bit like Parotocinclus maculicauda but it´s darker and doesn´t have these red markings on its fins. I had 5 but unfortunately only 2 survived and I have them for about 15 month now. They came to the shop with alot of Otocinclus affinis and they didn´t even know it was a different species which I told them after investigating trough google. It´s the Adipose that makes the difference to the Otocinclus species.Unfortunately I never found some of these again. They´re reaching a size from 3,5- 4,5cm.

Hi James,

thank you. In reality it looks even nicer, my camera is soooooo mediocre...

The plant in the foreground is Lilaeopses brasiliense. I started with one little pot about half a year ago. It seems to like my tank a lot...

Cheers
Ulli

Hi Emorsso,

I have had a couple of experiences with them. They are one of those fish that if you get good ones they are great, but if you don't you are very likely to loose them. Like all otocinclus they often seem to arrive very emaciated. Bringing them round from this is not always easy. If you see any for sale only buy them if they have a good round stomach. And if they show any signs of red flecks or marks avoid them, especially at the price they tend to fetch.

Hi everyone,

since I have no experiences with keeping and breeding otos, I started a breeding tank for them now. At the moment I have some shrimps in it but they will move out today because I think that it wouldn't work with them. Unfortunately I have only three otos but I try to get more from my fishdealer Wink

The water is very soft and PH is 6,5 I think they like it. One of the otos is bigger and "fat" the other two are smaller and thinner, I think it is 1f/2m and would be a good combination.

Shall I make a new thread out of this with my experience or is it boring as described already often about breeding this or because it is breeding fish not shrimps?

Best regards, Noa

I dont know anyone that has ever spanwed on purpose...they tend to do it kinda at random but not often as long as there is at least one male and female. I would say keep them in the shrimp tank and let them be happy. If they breed then shrimp probbabbly wont eat all the eggs, and you can raise some fry.

I will make a new thread soon and show what I've done exactly.
