Being able to grow in low light levels without CO2 makes me want to use these is my shrimp tanks. But something in the back of my mind, makes me think......... being aroids they could well be toxic.
Has anyone got any experiences with Crypts in shrimp tanks?

Hi,
I've Cryptocoryne veitchii 'petchii' in most of my shrimp tanks, to no ill effect. I've read that they contain oxalic acid which can be harmful to shrimp when they're cut back or suffer from Cryptocoryne fouling, however, my KH being at 8 any acid is instantly buffered and thus rendered harmless.
Depends all on the KH, I think.
Cheers
Ulli
