Thread: moulting eggs

    Default moulting eggs

    Hi all.
It was pretty exciting when several of my yellow shrimp became berried recently. Then I found this molt with eggs attached.
The eggs lost their colour within an hour of taking the photo; no idea hold the molt was.
The tank is hard water and unheated (sits at about 18 to 20 this time of year).
    An suggestions would be welcomed.
    thanks, Storm

This sort of thing can happen, especially with younger shrimp moms.
If you put these eggs into a sock (nylon) and hang them into your filter outlet stream, or put them into a glass with an air bubbler you might have a chance of some of the young shrimp still hatching...

    Cheers

If they do breed successfully, you get 10 on the house, for being such a cool hobbiest:-)

I am with Ulli on this, I don't think it means there is anything wrong in the tank. I think of it a shrimp miscarriage, she will have eggs soon enough again.

Kim is indeed a cool hobbiest.

Well thank you Storm, but we will see, you are just as cool as hobbiest as I am.

Thanks Peter . Great way to describe what happened to the shrimp - miscarriage, you are most likely right along with Ulli.

thank you both, Ulli and sorab. The reassurance is most welcome. I know there are more exotic shrimp to be had, but yellows really appeal to me, maybe because I can watch them at a small distance without glasses...

(ps Kim- I have duckweed if you need any)
